Lesson 9
Counseling is all about active listening. You can’t just sit there and give the person or persons in front of you lip service. Not only are you wasting their time and money, but you’re betraying their trust. What you need to do is pay attention to what’s being said, make comments where appropriate, and develop a plan for this person to make their life better or to get through a tough situation. If you don’t listen you could miss something really important, and that could threaten the life of that person and the lives of the people (s)he comes in contact with.
